We are a friendly and experienced team of eight, with two Qualified teachers (1 a Forest School Leader); four staff with NVQ Level 3 in children’s care and development, one member who is Level 2 qualified, one member of staff who started her apprenticeship with us in September 2018 and one who is due to start in Septemer 2019.

Meet the team

Lucy Smith

Lucy has been manager of Southdown Nursery since January 2015 and has worked at the nursery for nearly 10 years. Lucy is an Early Years Educator Level 3 trained, a Forest School Level 2 and a session supervisor.

Lucy works at Southdown on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.


Amanda has worked at Southdown for six years. Amanda is joint Nursery Deputy and she is a Qualified Early Years Teacher, Forest school level 3 leader and Session Supervisor.
Amanda works Wednesday afternoon, Thursday all day and Friday morning and lunch club.



Hayley has worked at Southdown for four years. Hayley is a Level 2 Early Years Educator.
Hayley works All day Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.



Joy has worked at Southdown for nine years. Joy is a Level 3 Early Years Educator and a session supervisor.
Joy works All day Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday morning.



Nicky has worked at Southdown for four years. Nicky is Joint Nursery Deputy and is a Level 3 Early Years Educator. Nicky is the nursery’s finance coordinator.
Nicky works all day Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday morning and lunch club.



Heather has worked at Southdown for three years and is a Level 3 Early Years Educator.
Heather works all day Wednesday and Thursday and Friday mornings.



Ivy has worked at Southdown since September 2017 and will shortly begin her Apprenticeship with us as an Early Years Educator at NVQ Level 3. Ivy works on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesday and Friday mornings.


Isabel is a primary school teacher and has been working with us since October 2017. Isabel works on Friday mornings.
