Positive Relationships

Respect for All, Partnership with Parents, Supporting Learning, Role of Key Person

  • We support children to build positive, respectful relationships.
  • We are always happy to listen to your queries and concerns.
  • We seek your views on the care and education we provide.
  • We value your role as their child’s first and most enduring educator and seek to establish strong, productive relationships.
  • We meet regularly to discuss progress and next steps, noting your comments in your child’s learning journal.
  • We welcome you to work together with us in the nursery and treasure your support both for fund-raising and practical help to improve our garden during ‘paint and play days’.
  • We focus on learning and achievement from the starting point of a respectful and caring relationship with your child. By getting to know them well we are able to help them to make connections in their learning, moving their skills and understanding forward.
  • All staff are trained to NVQ Level 3 and our Early Years Professional, (EYP), has Qualified Teacher Status. We attend regular training courses on aspects of the EYFS. Additional input on curriculum and policy matters is delivered by our EYP during staff meetings and INSET days.
  • Your child’s key person has many responsibilities. She will meet with you on your child’s first visit to nursery and will be the first point of contact for everyday matters. She will build a nurturing and trusting relationship with your child, will observe his/her play to ascertain interests, friendships and preferred learning styles. With her paired key person, she will deliver planned input during group times at the end of a session. She will meet with you regularly to share his/her learning journal and implement an ‘individual development plan’ to promote progress in learning and development.
